Why I Love Glossier
4:35:00 PMIt's funny how just a couple of years ago, I was all about the makeup. I would never leave the house without a full face. It may not have looked it at the time, but trust me when I say I would make sure every spot, scar, mark and blemish was covered up completely and I was left with a flawless "natural" face.
I don't know what it is that made me change my perspective on makeup. I wouldn't say that my love for all things beauty died or anything, I still have my weekly column on Project Vanity and I still swoon over the latest in the beauty world (and update my Makeup Wish List) but I don't feel the need to make sure I look 100% "beat" every single day. Which is why I love Glossier so much.
Aside from the fact that I absolutely adore Emily Weiss (seriously, go Google her- she is AMAZING) I truly have found a love for all things Glossier. Yes, you could say that I fell for the hype and all that but really, I have never resonated with a beauty brand so much in my life. Circling around the idea that good skin is in and good skin is all you really need, I have come to love all of the products I've tried from the brand and it has also made me depend on high coverage products less, and embrace my natural skin more.
I have now found some HG products that I can't live without and are chucked into my daily makeup rotation. Just some of my Glossier favorites include the Wowder (totally undetectable, sets your makeup but keeps the glow and doesn't make you look cakey), the Cloud Paint Blushes (I have Dusk and Haze and OMG THEY ARE SO GOOD!), the Perfecting Skin Tint (this is the ultimate "no makeup makeup" for me), the Haloscope Highlighter in Quartz (so natural that it just gives your skin that dewy look) and the Stretch Concealer (a hydrating, easy to blend concealer that I use daily).
I thank God for my sister Trina because not only is she such an awesome person, but she is also super generous and basically got me into Glossier (I blame you Trin!) Which is why every time Glossier comes out with a new product, I find myself constantly reading reviews and drooling over the pictures. Because I knew she was going to go to the States for a couple of weeks, I decided to ask her get me a couple more bits to add to my growing collection. Granted, another Stretch Concealer was needed as I was already using my backup (I finished an entire pot of the stuff- that never happens!) I also asked for a couple new bits to try.
I had been hearing and reading tons of good reviews on their Generation G lipsticks- lippies that promise easy application, minimal touchups and excellent colors. I went for the shade Cake as it was at the top of everyone's list of must try items. With a sheer matte finish, Cake is classified as a subtle peachy nude but when on the lips just gives the most natural wash of color. Think a MLBB shade.
I was also able to snag the legendary Boy Brow- the only brow mascara you will ever need, as per numerous raves. Formulated to set, fluff and color your brows, this is a staple for a lot of celebrities including Miranda Kerr and Beyonce (need I say more?) and boy has it got this Kilay Girl excited! I have very short but thick eyebrows so I'm counting on this bad boy to really help fluff my kilay in the most natural way.
Then there's the Stretch Concealer in Medium. Like I said, I'm already on my backup pot of this stuff (meaning I needed another one ASAP!) I have never finished a pot of concealer in my entire life and loved it till the very last bit. It lasts a long time but for someone who used it every single day (I love it that much) the concealer lasted me about 4-5 months. This is also a really unusual product. It's sort of wet because of how hydrating it is but it doesn't move when you put it on your skin. It blends easily, covers well and sets fantastic. It's hard to explain but trust me when I say it's my favorite concealer!
These three products came in the Phase 2 Set. That's another thing I love about Glossier. They also have sets for you to try out their different products and you end up saving a bit of money and you get free shipping (in the States) too! For $40 you get 3 products and a bunch of super cute stickers too lol! I can't wait to try out the lipstick and the brow mascara! Will be sure to keep you guys updated on how I feel about them! :)
