The Struggle Is Real: The Art Of Waiting

11:08:00 AM

I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time thinking of the proper title that would perfectly convey the message of this entry. I really always try to make my titles catchy but at the same time true- to make them as "me" as I possibly can, whatever that  means.

Lately, I've been dealing with a lot of "waiting" in my life- not just in my life specifically, but in the lives of my friends and family. And I don't know, I always find myself reflecting and thinking about what they're going through, what I'm going through, and if it'll ever get any better. I guess that's why this entry was born.

Please note that I am not a "life expert" or a trained psychologist or anything like that. I'm just like everyone else, someone who goes through life's ups and downs and tries to survive it as best as she can. And if anything, strives to become better because of the struggle. But in reality, life is tough not just because of the challenges it brings, but because of the WAITING that is needed. Especially for the blessings to come.

I hope that with this entry, you can somewhat find comfort in the fact that I too, along with people I know and love, go through life struggles too, and try as best as we can to get through them and become better. Sometimes we just really need to know that someone out there is experiencing and feeling exactly what we are. There is comfort in that.

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
So here we go, my take on "The Art Of Waiting"
Love

Siyempre ang unang topic ko LOVE (feeling love guru na yata ako eh HAHA joke) No but seriously, a lot of the time I get emails from readers (naks!) or Twitter/Instagram followers about love and how to deal with crushes, relationships and everything else in between. I find it funny because I'm still learning so many things from my own relationship and the relationships around me, that I can't ever really give a definite answer also because everyone's love is different.

But when it comes to Love and Waiting, especially for those who are single and dying praying to meet their soulmate (aminin mo, alam ni God ang totoo Haha), waiting for "The One" gets really tiring and frustrating.

The only true comfort I have for this kind of waiting is to know that in the end, we end up with whoever we're supposed to end up with. God's plans for us are always perfect and pure- good and fruitful. As cheesy as it sounds (thanks to the movie A Walk To Remember), 1 Corinthians 13 truly explains the type of Love God has FOR and has PLANNED for us. We need only to be patient.
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant..."
So as hard as it is to wait, know that God is fixing your heart, making you ready to give a love you never knew you could give, a love solely based on His love for you, and that in time, you will meet "The One" meant for you.

Heartache

Ang bilis naman! From love nasa HEARTACHE na tayo?!

Yes my friends, that's life. #angharshkonaman Haha but kidding aside, this is something I know a lot of people deal with and deal with alone. Getting your heart broken, losing someone you love and a relationship you value HURTS. And it hurts BAD. The Waiting I'm talking about is about the Healing Heart.

"When will it stop hurting?"
"When will I feel better?"
"When will I find someone new?"
"When will I learn to forget about him/her?"

It's always a question of "When" isn't it? I've gotten my heart broken a couple times in my life and I gotta say, I can still remember how I felt each time. It's the type of pain you never really forget, but you learn to move on from. What sucks most about having your heart broken is the amount of time it takes to actually start feeling better. Some people cope better than others, almost instantly being okay, while others take forever and have a harder time moving on. I know what it's like to lay in bed, feeling horrible, wondering how much longer I have to wait before my heart stops hurting. Thankfully, it does. It ALWAYS does. Take comfort in knowing that whatever is broken, can be fixed. Whatever has been hurting, can be healed.

God has promised us this.

Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Psalm 147:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

Revelation 21:4

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
It's in the Bible. It's on numerous books. In print. Tested through time. God heals all things- especially the broken hearted. He hears your cries, counts your tears, and fixes your heart. Don't base your healing on how many days, weeks, months or years it takes before you start loving again. Base your healing on the simple fact that God loves you, and that while you're lying in bed crying, He's working His magic to fixing your heart. You will heal when you are meant to heal. So be patient, and be PROACTIVE. You also need to get up from that bed, and go about your life. God will fix things but that doesn't mean you just have to sit back and wait, no. You need to do your part.

And how can I move on if I don't have the strength to? Be motivated to move knowing that while you're busy taking care of everything you have to in your life despite the heartache, God is fixing your heart along the way. Before you know it, you'll be as good as new. :)

Pray to God for healing, pray for strength. He will grant it to you. :)

A Big Break

This is something I've been struggling with lately!!!

As you all know, I've decided to take on hosting as a full time job and I'm not gonna lie, it takes A LOT of patience. Gigs and events aren't everyday, and payments aren't always instant. I'm happy to say, however, God has always been able to provide for me and make me earn just what I need to in order to live my life without any drastic changes.

I know some people who are waiting for their "Big Break"- you may know what this is.

Recognition for hard work
A chance to prove yourself/your talent/your "worth"
An opportunity to stand out from the crowd
A chance to finally make a name for yourself
For karma to finally give you the justice you've been robbed of

"Big Breaks" aren't just all career based, no. Sometimes it's those moment wherein you'v been unjustly oppressed and the people who hurt you or wronged you haven't gotten their "karma." Those kinds of waiting always seem so much longer.

The only comforting thing I can share, mainly because I too experience a lot of these things in my life, is to know that GOD'S TIMING IS PERFECT. Forever and always, His timing is PERFECT.

For those struggling with Waiting on the Perfect Timing for their Careers...

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

James 1:3

Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

For those struggling with Waiting on the Perfect Timing for God to vindicate you from Injustice...
Exodus 14:14
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Romans 12:19
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 3:17
I said to myself,
“God will bring into judgment both the righteous and        the wicked, for there will be a time for every              activity, a time to judge every deed.”
Another thing I want to touch up on how some of us (we can't help it) go through life WAITING on when a person who hurt us will get their karma. I understand how it feels to want them to get hurt as much as they hurt us but in the end, if we spend so much time just focusing on that, focusing on our dislike/hate towards them, we can never really ever move on from what they did to us. And who wins in the end? They do. "Vengeance is mine," says the Lord. Always remember that. There is NOTHING scarier than knowing just how FAIR and JUST God is. He has plans for all of us. Believe that He sees and hears all things. You will be vindicated. :)

So there you have it. I hope that in some way these passages have brought you a little more peace in your lives. You know, I think one of life's greatest teachers is really TIME. We can learn so much just by how much time we spend.

  2. You have a very nice insight there. I believe that every solution in all our problems are found in the Bible. It is there to teach us how to live this life to the fullest. That's why it is important for us to read it daily and meditate every word that was written. Because in every trial that we will face, a verse or a Scripture can be our weapon to overcome those challenges.

Find joy as you wait, Miss Karla. Rejoice that God is doing something and He is a promise keeping God. He will never fail us because He loves us so much. Also, forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Sometimes in life, we will be persecuted and condemned but take heart because Jesus overcomes the world. :)

  3. I really like this entry Karla :) I'm in this kind of situation right now. Waiting. Sometimes I just wanna give up but I keep on holding on to God's promises. In the right time. In His perfect timing, He will give the desires in our heart. Our Pastor always said na, "hindi puchu-puchu mag bigay si Lord nang blessings. Pag si Lord nagbigay, mapapa-wow ka ng bongga!" Most of the time, we want everything in an INSTANT. We dont know how to wait for God's timing that's why we ended up receiving the "instant noodles" but if we'll just wait and completely have faith and trust in the promises of the Lord, He will give us the "special batchoy and special lomi" that we deserve.

And I agree much that ALL answers can be found in the Bible. Every word from God is sent in full power. The words of the Lord give ourselves and our family a very strong protection and most especially HOPE.

Thank you for this entry. I've learned a lot from you. God bless you always Karla :)

    1. Pyra that is so true! Kabuhayan showcase si Lord eh Haha! :) YES!!! Our sickness is we live in a world where everything is instant and disposable which is why it gets harder and harder to truly see the blessings and the worth of things. I'm glad that you are very mature in your thinking about God's timing. He will bless you in time, you will see. :) God bless you always!
