Cheers to the New Year- and some New Resolutions!

1:03:00 PM

Hey guys! I know it's been months since I've last blogged- I must admit aside from being very busy (two jobs ain't a joke, I tell you) I've also been trying to focus on other aspects in my life and well, some part of me has been very lazy to get on the computer and type anything (bad Karla, bad). So here I am now, typing away.

The reason why I decided to blog about the coming New Year is because lately there have been tons of changes happening in my life and in the lives of those around me. Ever since Typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines I've been doing some major reflecting about the different things I want to do with my life. I know it sounds selfish but hear me out first. I thought about how I could help, how I could join my fellow countrymen in aiding in whatever means I could but I also reflected about how I see my life and how I want to live it. When a disaster that horrific hits too close to home (literally, so CLOSE) it puts your life into some rather harsh perspective. Which brings me to my topic:

New Year's Resolutions.

I know, I know, we all have them. From losing weight to gaining weight, buying a gadget to saving for a car, we all have our own lists. Every year mine always consisted of "Being Sexy" as my number one resolution. And every year, well, I failed. So I decided to make a list that involved OTHER things, not just about losing weight and all. I wanted to share it with you guys and to those who are going to make their lists soon. Hopefully this will help you in some way or make you think back about what it is you want to make 2014 all about.

Some resolutions need a little explanation while others, well, they speak for themselves. Hope you enjoy this entry. :)
Eat Good Great Food

I know, very different from the whole lose weight or be fit but I figure that life is too short to be worried about eating food and gaining calories. For one thing, we are blessed enough to be able to CHOOSE the food we want to eat. We are blessed to be in the situation to worry about CALORIES and not the price, the amount or if we can even eat anything at all.

I'm not saying to become a pig this 2014, but what I am going to promise myself is that I am going to enjoy food, eat without guilt and make every meal I can an experience. I am going to stay fit- I'm going to try to exercise whenever I can, be more active, live healthier, but I'm not going to deprive myself of food and all it's awesomeness. Everything in moderation, I always say.

I think it's about time we stop worrying about calories and start enjoying the experience. :)

Take More Pictures

No, I don't mean with our phones and tablets. I mean pictures that one can actually keep in an album.

I have a polaroid camera that I haven't used in so long. Because it's bulkier and takes up more space in my bag, I don't really opt to bring it as much as I do my Smart phone. I promised myself that starting 2014 I would take more pictures with my Polaroid camera and with my SLR- which I can have developed an put in a photo album.

I think there's just something more special about developed pictures- something so authentic and real about them (don't get me wrong, I love a good digital picture- it's easier to share and keep without losing) but I think it's time for myself to make a more conscious effort in taking pictures and keeping memories.

Read More Books

Being a self confessed book worm, I try my best to read as many interesting books as I can in a year. 2013 was a sad year for the book worm in me because I didn't make enough time for my books and my reading. No matter how busy someone is, if they want to do something, they will make time for it. Sadly I didn't make time for my reading which is why I am promising myself a new year filled with books.

Books are awesome in all aspects. They teach us new words, give us new ideas and exercise our imaginations. They comfort us when we're sad and lonely, calm us down when we're angry, distract us when we're worried and are the best kinds of partners to have on a rainy day. I love getting lost in a good book and putting myself in the story and enjoying every word. I'm going to make 2014 a year of more books and more literary adventures. :)

Spend Less Time on My Phone

I need to stop constantly checking Twitter and Instagram and start enjoying life more- minus the updates and filters Hihi

Spend More Time Outside

I need more fresh air this 2014. Maybe a picnic or a nice walk every once in a while... I've always wanted to read under a tree (minus the higad Haha)

Travel to New Places

Whether it be around the Philippines, Asia or the World- I need to make room for more adventure in my life. I've come to realize that there are only so many things one can buy but memories and new experiences- well, those are priceless.

Guess it's time to wait for more seat sales and plan more trips with family and friends!

Spend a Day Alone. Completely and Utterly, Alone.

I know this sounds so emo and weird but, well, I've always wanted to try "falling off the face of the Earth" for a day. You know, leave my phone, bring some money and just go. Whether it be to the mall for coffee or a movie or to the spa or to a little restaurant, I think I want to try being alone. It's something I've always been afraid of so why not conquer that fear and see how I do? Maybe being alone at one point is good for the soul. :) #emoperohindiemo

Redecorate My Room

Keep a Prayer Journal

My Starbucks planner will now be put to good use! :)

Make Good Investments

I wanna be more wise this 2014 with regards to where I put my money and where I use it. I think it's time to stop shopping so much and start saving it all. :)

Do More Things for Other People

Lastly, I want to make 2014 more about how I can be of service to others. No, I'm not making it look like I'm some saint or some goody good girl, but I think it's important that we try and put others on our New Year's Resolutions as well. It doesn't have to be some grand donation to a charity or whatever. It can be something simple like saying "Hello" to people more or asking them how their day went. I want to try and be more "People Loving" this year. That in itself is a challenge I accept whole heartedly! :)

Hope this list helped you guys with some of your resolutions. I'm still crafting my list up and adding more things.

Happy Holidays everyone! :)
