A Boyfriend's Guide to Surviving THAT Time of the Month
by Karla Aguas and *Comments by Nico Salva
Inspired by her cramps and erratic mood swings
- We don't feel very PRETTY so don't keep saying that we are - Come on boys, we're freaking bloated and bleeding, how pogi would you feel if you were experiencing what we're experiencing?? Don't get me wrong, you can tell us we're beautiful. In fact, only tell us we're beautiful when you really mean it. It does make us feel good even in the state we're in. BUT don't over do it. Don't keep telling us we're pretty and sexy and whatever cause we're going to think you're lying or just trying to make us feel better out of pity. That'll just piss us off. So again, just say it when you mean it.
- We know WHAT and WHERE we want to eat - Those "Up to you"s and "Wherever is fine"s are only temporary. Just be patient, we will tell you eventually what it is we are really craving for. Instead of getting frustrated, offer a few suggestions of places we might like. [* Yeah right you'll say where you wanna eat pag ubos na ang gas ko]
- We are pissed off about EVERYTHING - No, it's not necessarily something you did or said, our hormones are just all over the place and well, we're pretty pissed off. Try to stay calm about this. It's hard, I know, but the important thing is to STAY CALM. The traffic is pissing us off, that shirt you're wearing is pissing us off, being bloated is pissing us off, not being able to sit certain ways is pissing us off- we're just pissed off! [* My shirt? :( My shirts are fabulous!]
- Be careful with WHAT you say and HOW you say it - The trick here is to be malambing. This actually goes for everyday, NOT just on THOSE kinds of days. But anyway, be sweet. Not overly sweet cause then we might get all paranoid and wonder why you're being so extra sweet. Just be your normal, sweet self ESPECIALLY when saying something. Remember, we're already pissed off about everything, so don't add fuel to the fire, yeah?
- We are craving for attention, so give it to us - We might be whiny and needy and clingy, but that's only because of the state we're in. I mean, I can honestly say I'm not a clingy girlfriend on a normal day, but when it's THAT time of the month, Imma cling on to you like a Tarsier on a tree trunk! I aint never letting go! So if you're annoyed or think it's too much, well, suck it up big guy! Those texts and calls and whiny little hirits are only going to last a few days anyway.. Haha! JUST. BE. PATIENT.
- NO, NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE A MANYAK - Our cramps are killing us. We feel bloated and woozy. We're weak and vulnerable. DON'T TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS TIME. Mahiya ka naman! Clingy and needy na nga kami eh! Hahahahaha [* Don’t you take advantage when someone is vulnerable???]
- When we ask you to leave us alone, do it.. But COME BACK after awhile - Let's face it, at one point or another, we're going to fight. I'm going to get all upset about something that you don't find worthy of being upset about, and well, all hell's gonna break lose. So when I say "Leave me alone" or "Go away" - do it. BUT COME BACK. I know you're a guy and you've got your manly pride with your chest out and macho arms and whatever, but please, we're suffering here. Our hormones are getting the better of us. We're extra sensitive. I'm not saying us overreacting is fine or good, it's not, but it's how we feel right now. So despite that, come back. Come back and be normal again. Chances are when you return, okay na rin kami. Then we can talk about the "issue" and fix things. We're clingy at this point anyway remember? Haha
- No, that comment WASN'T funny - No, no it's not. Just don't say it.
