I happened to stumble upon this while I was browsing through my Facebook feed and I have to say, this really hit me. Now don't get me wrong- I LOVE Victoria's Secret. They have quality underwear and great makeup that thankfully doesn't make me breakout. I love the hot pink mini robes that the models wear and I religiously watch the VS Fashion Shows of every year when I work out or want to start getting fit. I looooveee the angels especially Candice, Lily, Behati and Miranda. I really do love the brand. I love the message they're trying to send out to empower women and make them feel sexy. But for me, I just think they should keep in mind that these kinds of "sexy vibes" (I couldn't think of a better term HAHA #fail) are appropriate for an older age group. It's always about the RIGHT TIME and AGE for certain things and that's why I'm a little concerned with this new campaign they're going to release.


I do not, however, like what they're planning to do with regards to a more "Teeny Bopper" line. I didn't even know they were planning to do this until I read this letter. I urge you all to take a little time and read this- just to see what you guys think about the whole situation. I personally love the brand but am totally against the different messages that they are planning to sell to the younger market. Please feel free to tell me what you think as well. I believe that the readers of my blog (all 8 of you HAHA) are smart, opinionated and well informed so I really do want to post other matters as well that concern/interest me.

I also put this on my blog because for me, a parent's love is something we more often than not take for granted. Remember all those fights you had with your mom or dad about not being able to go out or hang out with certain people? Well, I honestly believe and have learned (through many fights and groundings- I wasn't really an angel growing up) that in the end, our parents only want what's TRULY best for us. No hidden agendas or anything. Reading this made me realize that the media and brands are getting scary- the messages they send out are what can shape the next generations and if they aren't positive messages, what will happen to everyone? There's no denying it, Jennifer Lawrence has popped up on our radars faster than you can say Silver Linings Playbook (okay, that wasn't THAT fast to begin with anyway). I honestly never really understood her appeal from her past movies (okay okay, I never really knew WHO she was up until the Hunger Games one). And even then I never really knew why people liked her. That is until I stumbled upon a few of her interviews and guest appearances online. After watching Youtube clip after Youtube clip like a complete stalker completely normal person, I have to say, I LOVE HER!!! I started researching on magazine articles and written interviews that she did and I was hooked! I was an official J-Law Lover! So it was no surprise that when I found out she was starring in a much awaited movie called Silver Linings Playbook (also starring one of my man crushes Bradley Cooper- yum yum yummyness!) that I just HAD to watch it.

She looks amazing!!!!

Aside from being completely and effortlessly good-looking (I sound like Zoolander HAHA), I think we can learn a lot from this young, fresh and HONEST actress. I've come to appreciate her not just for her amazing acting skills but also for her bluntness and honesty towards light AND heavy subjects. So here are some things I love and have learned from Jennifer Lawrence. Hopefully you can begin to understand my weirdness and crush towards her a little more Hihi :)

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed planning things. From birthdays to surprises, get togethers to trips, I have always ENJOYED fixing things up. I guess the OC freak girl in me just lives for these kinds of stuff. So it's no surprise that ever since I started dating my Bubba, I've been wanting to plan a little something from him for his loyal band of FRIENDS (I like saying friends over "fans") as a way of saying thank you for their never ending support.

People always tell me nga that if I were an "artista" my fans would love me (ano daw?!). Mahilig kasi ako mag pa-party. Burger burger burger! Haha... So after months and months of planning, after making kulit and fixing things up, my Bubba's and my schedule finally freed up and we were able to have his little Sunday party with the NICOnatics (don't you just love the name? SO CUTE).

HUHUHUHU! I can't believe I'm even making an entry on this topic. I'm still in denial (student parin ang peg ko... for LIFE!) that I'm done with college and am working to build, as my Mom keeps on saying, my "Nest." But alas, time keeps on moving and life stops for no man (uyy profound!) and I have to slowly but surely, face the reality that is-

I decided to make a blog entry on "feeling good about yourself" since I've been getting a lot of emails and message requests about an entry on this kind of topic (Yes! I have more than 5 readers na! I'm officially a blogger HAHA not).

I'm not exactly the most confident person out there. I will admit, I am half unicorn, HUMAN afterall. I've had days when I don't want to get out of bed, when all I see are flaws when I look in the mirror, when I feel fat, gross, sad for no reason and majorly insecure about absolutely nothing (I just feel insecure, without an exact reason- WEIRD NOH?!). So what do I do when I have days like this? I cry and I don't leave my house. HAHA choz! Actually no, half choz lang Huhuhu!

So I've decided to list down the 5 things I do to make myself FEEL GOOD ABOUT BEING ME. Hopefully this will make sense, make you laugh, help you and add a little boost of confidence in your step. Cause let's face it, there's no greater feeling that being absolutely content, secure and HAPPY about being, YOU. :)

So as most of you wonderful people who follow me on Twitter know, last Friday was the birthday of my one and only Bubba. He turned 23 (ew what an oldie haha) and I wanted to make his day extra special. I had actually taken a leave from work which just goes to show how amazing and awesome of a girlfriend I really am since I love him and I wanted to really surprise him on his special day.

So I got to his place early (6:50 am) and fixed everything up. I then woke him up (even his awesome parents and brother were in on it and wanted to help me, I love them so much ok Haha) so after I surprised him I drove him off to have breakfast (ANG SPOILED! Girlfriend na, driver pa!) in a place that we both have never tried- Stacy's. I had always seen pictures of this place on the Instagram accounts that I stalk of my friends and I really wanted to try it since it looked like those adorable diners in the States that serve amazing breakfasts. And boy, was my assumption SPOT ON. So here's a little review on our Silly Stay at Stacy's Hihi :)

I've honestly been staring at my computer screen for a couple of minutes now, figuring out how I was going to go about writing this entry when it hit me- there really isn't any specific or perfect way to write something about someone you love. Why? Cause the words are never enough. Words are never enough to describe, explain and retell how you feel about someone you hold so close to your heart. So bear with me, for there aren't enough words for me to even begin to explain the kind of love I feel.

I have never in my life, met someone I was so wrong about. You are living proof that stereotypes, judgmental eyes, jealous people and chismis are the FURTHEST things from the truth. I was so wrong about you. And I thank God everyday for bringing you into my life.

So now, allow me to gush a little bit about you. To all my readers, prepare yourselves for some serious cheese as I talk about one of the Champions in my life- my Bubba.

I'm sitting in my office desk right now, trying not to cry. I literally needed to take a moment to write all of this down because I just had the most WONDERFUL experience and I needed to share it with all of you before I forgot every single detail of it. So let me get started.

For the past few weeks, I've been really down. And for the past few days, I've been EXTRA down. I would find myself crying in the bathroom, in the car and in my room all because I was so unhappy. I wasn't unhappy because of my family, friends or my Bubba, no, I was unhappy about something more "adult like," my job.

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that no matter how small it is I earn, I am actually making my OWN money. Everything that I buy comes from my hardwork. I am able to contribute to the house expenses and I can treat my loved ones to a good meal or a night out. It's just that, well, to put it bluntly, I didn't think I would end up in this kind of a job. My job consists of basically sitting in a desk, editing things and handling website stuff. I get to go to fun events from time to time and I meet tons of people which is great for networking but at the end of the day, it isn't where I thought I would be after college. So here I am right, crying and crying, feeling so sorry for myself (pagbigyan mo na, pity party for one please) and I would be in such a bad mood a lot and I would even go as far as comparing salaries and job perks with friends to make myself even MORE miserable (sadistic ka, teh?) so there. Now, why am I saying all these things when my title is "When God Speaks To You"? Well, because right now, today, He spoke to me. He spoke to me through a person I never thought would say something like this to me.

We have a facilities and organization group who we refer to as the SMS- they handle all the moving and setting up of our events and special occasions. One of the men there is Sir June and I've come to love him very much. He's an adorable, chubby and a little short man who has one leg that is shorter than the other which makes him limp every time he walks (imagine how much of an EFFORT that already is). What I love most about Sir June is he is always smiling and EVERY TIME (without fail) he sees me, he always greets me with the warmest smile and ALWAYS addresses me as "Ma'am" (I'm actually a little uncomfortable when people at the office call me Ma'am or Ms. Karla especially when they're much older than me but I know it's a respect thing which I appreciate) Anyway...

So I just got back from a lunch date with my Mom and I dreaded coming back to the office. I just wanted to spend time with her and forget all about my job. But, of course, duty calls and I dragged myself back to the office. So here I am feeling down and I decide to go grab some water- there in the pantry I find Sir June heating food in the microwave. I smiled and greeted him and asked him why he was only eating now (It's 3 PM in the afternoon) and he said he hadn't had time to eat during lunch. When I asked why, he smiled and animatedly made me "kwento" his story:

Yesterday night, our company hosted a dinner that had a lot of important guests invited. Because Sir June is one of the heads of the SMS, he had to oversee the entire event which lasted until 1:00 AM this morning. He then went home, and arrived at the office today at 7:00 AM because there was an important breakfast meeting at 8:30 which he had to oversee again. He basically only had what? 4 hours of sleep?

When he told me this my jaw dropped. I even said it was so crazy that it ended so late and that he had to be at work so early the following day. I told him that if it was me in his place I would've cried and not shown up (it's the truth, I would probably be unconscious in bed from the late work night!) and I also asked him how he manages to be so tired and filled to the brim with work but still smile and be so friendly. And this is what he said, which I believe was what God wanted me to hear-

"Eh Ma'am, trabaho po talaga ito eh, okay lang. Kailangan, masaya lang pa rin parati."

OH MY GOD. HOW YOU SPEAK TO ME, I WILL ALWAYS BE AMAZED.

Here is a man who pays so many more bills than I do, has so many more problems to worry about that don't involve petty things like shopping money, pocket money for trips abroad and how to pay for haircuts and manicures. A man SO SIMPLE and SO HARDWORKING. It really hit me and I almost cried. It made me go back to my desk now and write this. I am so struck by it. Such a simple message. Kailangan, masaya pa rin parati.

It really makes you rethink things and realize all these blessings. My goodness, my problems are so petty compared to so many more people out there and I have the audacity to complain?? Geesh! I'm not saying I'm going to completely stop complaining (just being realistic here) but I sure as heck am going to start finding more reasons to feel GOOD rather than BAD.

So thank you, Lord, for blessing me with people like Sir June. People who are LIVING PROOF that it's all about PERSPECTIVE and how you VIEW THINGS. I am in awe at his simple words. And I am in awe at how You speak to us all. Thank You.

As most of you (my readers and friends) know, I LOVE clothes. I love love loooveeee clothes and I find myself constantly shopping for new additions to my closet while at the same time NEVER having "anything to wear" (ano ba yan). Don't get me wrong, I'm not a crazy shopaholic like Rebecca Bloomwood, Isla Fisher's character in Confessions of a Shopaholic. I'm not in debt, and I don't have a million things piling up in my room but I'm getting there, in the piling up part not the debt part. I actually would like to consider myself a "smart shopper" (Yehes! Apir!) I love going to sales and I always make sure to really think about my purchases, especially when they're not as cheap as other things. I also, really love shopping in stores that have clothes that fit me just perfectly. Cause for me, a piece of clothing is like a good man (uyyy magiging profound si ate) it may look good, but at the end of the day, it's the FIT that counts. You can try and try to fit into something but if at the end you're not comfortable, you're going to end up miserable. Just like in relationships (oh diba? May point ako!) so I always make sure that when it comes to clothes and makeup, when I find a brand that I love, I stick to it. As Anne Curtis said: "For me, there's no other tuna." -- ANOO??? Connection??? Haha

Okay back to my point since I'm constantly randomly rambling (say that fast five times!) I want to talk to you all about a brand that I have grown to love not just because of the quality of the clothes, but because of the sweet person behind the store. To my readers whom I consider friends (uy popular?) I bring you, Desino Dulce.

I've been getting quite a few comments and emails about how Bubba and I "keep the fire alive" (Ano daw??) So I decided to make a entry that sort of explains, in a way, the dynamic of our relationship. Let me first say that our relationship is FAR from perfect. We have fights, disagreements, and we both lose our tempers at one point. I can be very unreasonable, cold, mean and hurtful. Nics can be the same (but more often than not it's me, ako yung mean but I'm working on it OKAY Huhu).

Second, every relationship is different. So just because somethings works for us, doesn't necessarily mean it will work for someone else (although since these are all based on love for each other, they honestly should work).
