February 4, 2013. Two whole years. Where to even begin?
I can’t believe it’s been another year with my Bubba.
Another 365 days of lambing, away, lambing, away, away, away,
lambing, mega lambing, super mega major lambing. So if you’re lactose
intolerant, and cannot take any dairy without feeling sick or puking, I suggest
you stop reading this entry right now. Why?
This entry contains a whole lot of cheesiness!!! Yes, talo
pa ang four cheese pizza ng Yellow Cab! Ha ha ha!
So here we go (ang dramatic eh noh?)
On February 4, 2011, I remember sitting on my couch, at
about 11 P.M., tweeting on my Blackberry (yes, uso BBM noon and I was part
of the bandwagon!) “Today I became
the happiest girl alive.” Siyempre, I had just had probably my most kilig
moment ever in my whole life (or so I thought) let me just share a background
of what happened that night. I deleted my go-to Beyonce song on my iTunes. Why?
Kasi hindi na ako isang SINGLE LADY! Har har har (corny eh noh?) But yes, that
night, I had become someone’s girlfriend. Ahihi

Fast forward to last night- February 4, 2013. Two years with
my Bubba. Forgive me if that doesn’t seem long to some of you (Hello to those
who are in 4, 5, 100 year relationships CONGRATS! Idol!) but for us it was
truly a celebration. We had been with each other for two years of our lives,
loving, caring, fighting and being silly, together. It was an amazing feeling.

The night started with our guard Kuya Louie going to me on
my desk at work with a stuffed Panda with the biggest smile on his face. At
first I thought it was from him and I remember thinking, “Kuya, cute ka pero
medyo 60+ ka na di na tayo magkakaroon ng mga anak if ever” Until I saw the
card on the Panda’s forehead that said “Come outside, I have something for you”
I immediately ran outside (with Kuya Louie laughing at me since I was so kilig)
to find my Bubba by the stairs holding a bouquet of roses for me. Now I don’t
normally like flowers, but anything from my Bubba is precious to me! Plus, I
hadn’t seen him in 4 days (Parang OFW lang HAHA) so I squealed like a crazy
love sick teenager. There were four roses, two pink and two white. 4. One of my
favorite numbers.

Now here’s a little background of where we chose to eat. Being
the foodies that we are, we wanted to go some place we would both enjoy. Bubba
was suggesting hotels and super fancy places (Yes! Yaman!) but I followed my gut
washboard, Victoria’s Secret Runway worthy abs (Bawal kumontra!) to make the
decision. I wanted to eat
somewhere good. I had heard so much about a restaurant that had
taken the place of Magnet- a rockeoke place I used to love going to called 2nd’s.
We decided to give it a try. Plus since I’m so cute I found it so cute
and witty to tell people “We’re celebrating our 2nd anniversary at 2nd’s”
He hehe he he.
The place was our
kind of place. It was lit very well with warm yellow lighting (perfect to hide
all imperfections and pores ladies!) with dark wood furniture and a bookshelf
with old leather bound books and a signed basketball (We forgot to check who
signed it! Does anyone know?) What made it even nicer was since we had arrived
early (Our reservation was for 7:30 but we got there at 6:40 since mabilis
kami magutom we wanted to start celebrating early) there weren’t that many
people yet. Actually for that night, not many people came in to eat while we
were there. Maybe we smelled bad we were just there earlier than most
since I heard that place gets pretty crowded but we enjoyed the quiet ambience.

Being a foodie couple, Nics and I always research on the
place we’re going to eat in. I guess we’re just dorky awesome like that.
On our own time, not together (he was in HK over the weekend and I was here in
Manila) we would check out food blogs and websites, seeing the reviews of the
place and what dishes to order. So when we got there, we were prepared.
SPECIAL CELEBRATION DINNER TIP: Research on the restaurant you plan on eating in. Read several blogs or websites that offer reviews about the place so you know what it’s like. Find out the best sellers of the menu and note down the ones recommended by the blogs/websites you trust. AND, always ask the waiters what they recommend when you’re in the restaurant.Our waiter, Roy, was the best. He was so friendly and had the biggest, warmest smile ever when he greeted us and attended to us. SHOUT OUT TO YOU, Roy, you helped make our dining experience extra special!
When we looked at the menu, we already knew what to order. I
was shouting and freaking out with joy pleasantly surprised though when
I read the drinks menu and found that they served my FAVORITE beer of all time,
GUINNESS Extra Stout. I couldn’t believe it. Most restaurants say they “have”
this beer but when I order it, it is almost, ALWAYS, never available (ANO BA
YAN WHAT IS PINAASA MO AKO HUHU) Roy kept laughing at me cause I kept asking
him if he was sure they had it while Bubba was starting to hide his face
with the menu from embarrassment at my genuine love for the beer smiling at
me with love. P.S. I’m not an alcoholic okay. (Defensive?) Haha!

| House Sweet Potato Chips |
The best part about this dish? It was free! They serve it to you while you wait! Yay! :) This was a nice way to get us started on the dinner we had
ahead. Very crispy, lightly salted and sprinkled with grated cheese, these
sweet potato chips were heavenly! I couldn’t believe they were considered
“healthy” (although with our second bowl given to us by the awesome Roy and all
the cheese sprinkled on the chips I doubt it was still as “healthy” as we would
like it to be)

| Brutus Salad |
The name was so witty. I couldn’t help but laugh. It was 2nd’s
take on the classic Ceasar salad and it didn’t disappoint at all! The lettuce
was nice and crispy, the dressing was rich yet light and do not get me started
on the BACON CHICHARON that topped it all off! That bacon. Oh man. My love for
bacon just grows by the day. I was so excited to try it that when I attempted
to cut the strip, a HUGE chunk flew and fell on the floor (I was so sad, I was
holding back tears) but thank God the piece was pretty huge (that’s what she
said) so I still had a lot of my bacony goodness for my salad. There’s just
something about how the salad and all its elements just came together (Yes,
parang Master Chef lang ang peg!) and it was a very generous serving!

HOYMAYGHAD words cannot even begin to express this dish. I
had no words after my first bite. The noodles were perfect and the cheese was
*&^$&Y*^%^$%**&()&*% !!! (I told you, NO WORDS!) It was so
decadent and rich and delicious Nics and I were so happy we got it. We knew
right then and there WHY it was a best seller. You could really taste the
different cheese they put in it! It was the perfect cheesy dish for us cheeseballs!

When I first read this on the menu, I thought it said
“Wedgie Burger” I remember thinking, “Why on Earth would you name your burger
after a cruel act done by bullies to innocent geeks in school aka ME??”
Good thing Roy said the name or else I would’ve been caught misreading and
being BAROK HAHAHA
This burger may LOOK small, but the pattie was SO FAT! It
was small and fat! Like me! The bun was good on its own. I’m a really
big fan of breads and pastas since I don’t enjoy rice so I really make sure to
evaluate the buns (Hehe buns) that come with the burgers that I order. The
pattie was fat and juicy. IT WAS DELICIOUS! You could really taste the beef and
just thinking about it now is making me salivate (Muka akong rabid dog sa
office HAHA) and the best part? THERE WAS BACON CHICHARON INSIDE!!!
AHHHHHH!!!! When I cut into the burger, I heard a crunch and when I peeked to
see what had caused that wonderful sound my heart was so excited for what I
found underneath that bun (HAHA sorry, but, BUN Haha) BACOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All in all, the Weedgie burger was
delicious! I just want to know, does anyone know why it’s called this? What’s a
Weedgie? Hehe

I know it seems little but that’s another thing I loved
about our waiter Roy (parang entry na to for my love for Roy eh HAHA) he was
VERY honest. We thought with what we ordered it might be too little but Roy
told us it was a lot for just two piglets. He said that if we felt it
wasn’t enough, we could just order again. That’s what I take note of when
eating out- I hate waiters who push you to order way too much just so you get
their whole menu. I like waiters who know what’s good and who know when what
you order is too much or too little. I made a mental note to always look for
Roy when we come back (Yes, we plan on going back!) And true enough, Roy was
right! I was just enough or us both! We were stuffed!

Bubba was even saying how dizzy he got from eating the Mac
and Cheese… you could smell and taste the truffle oil they used no wonder he go
dizzy! I was still trying to comprehend the bacon I had tasted in most of the
dishes. My heart was so happy I wanted to sew my butt shut just so the yummy
bacon would stay inside me forever HAHA I’M GROSS LIKE THAT OKAY I couldn’t
help but smile after the whole meal.

OMG I wanna cry :( (because of jealousy) I pity myself because I'm still Single *since-birth* (wishing for a relationship like yours karls) this entry will make all the other single ladies get jealous. NEVER RUSH ANYTHING WORTH HAVING. Our relationship is far from perfect but we work at it constantly. That's what makes everything worth it. Our mutual love and respect for each other.
